About TourGuide

Planning an itinerary for group of people with maximized group satisfaction and minimized misery is a challenge. There are several applications offering individual tour recommendation in the market. There are also location based social networks where people let each other know about the places they visited and give information about these places through ratings and comments. However, currently there is no application offering tour recommendations for groups. TourGuide is related with tour recommendation for individuals/groups and it is also a location based social platform. It aims to benefit from the effect of the social media for people to gather.

TourGuide provides a platform such that users can be informed about venues in their cities, comment on venues, add other users as friends, form groups, chat with their friends or groups and get tour recommendations. In the recommendation algorithm, we use some parameters such as user preferences, working hours and popular hours of venues, distance from starting point of tour and check-in histories of users which are used in collaborative filtering. The aim of TourGuide is to apply the ideas in the literature and device a practical tool.
