NeVis


NeVis (News Visualizer) is a tool to visualize the news as a graph. It shows the news and the entities in the news as nodes in a graph. News having common entities, have connections between them, which allows to navigate among nodes. The graph is enriched with background Vikipedi connections that gives information about the entities. NeVis has query and filter functionalities over the news graph. Also, according to activities of the user, NeVis provides news recommendations.

Visualization

NeVis visualizes the news' to make more understandable... Each news is separated into words and NeVis produces colorful named entities, that are popped up when a news node is clicked.

Recommendation

NeVis knows what you will like to see... NeVis recommends the news that are related to previously clicked news .

Entity info

NeVis provides the information about the selected entity from Vikipedi... Vikipedi information show up when an entity is clicked. User can read small informations about the selected entity within the NeVis page.

Navigation

User can drag and drop nodes by clicking and holding to move them or drag and drop some empty place to move around. User can zoom in and out the graph by scrolling and see the relations between different news freely.

News Query

NeVis can query the news nodes and entity nodes by giving name or id, can determine a certain date range to represent news on the graph. After selecting a node, it can show the related nodes up to the given distance by hops. NeVis will show the results as you wish...

Filtering

Every node has category or type information inside of them. NeVis shows the desired news categories and entity types individually or with combinations by using filtering. Users will always see what they want on the graph.

Color Coding The Nodes

NeVis gives each news and entity nodes a distinct color code depending on their news category / entity type. User can notice the news category and entity types at first sight. Every member of category and type groups has the same color and these colors are shown in the legend. User can also filter these categories and types with checkboxes.
